GSP Bigfoot Project

GSP initiated a 70 million USD investment project for the conversion of a flat top cargo barge into a self supporting, anchor moored shallow water pipelay barge containing accommodation for 208 persons, GSP Bigfoot 1. GSP directly sustains the investment with 30 million USD from the company's funds. The Dutch – Norwegian firm Ulstein Sea of Solutions in cooperation with Deltamarine have realized the basic design of the self supporting, anchor moored sallow water pipelay barge. The detailed design engineering is developed by Ship Design Group (SDG), its completion being expected in October 2009. The American Bureau of Shipping started reviewing the basic drawings this January, GSP Bigfoot 1 pipelay barge being issued at the completion the ABS class certificate.
The shipyard works started in March 2009 in GSP's Constanta Sud - Agigea operational base, the completion being programmed for the beginning of February 2010. The shallow water pipelay barge will be ready to mobilize for the Galata project starting with the 15th of February and for the TPAO offshore construction project in March. The GSP BIGFOOT 1 project includes the installation of the power generation (5 x Caterpillar 3512B DI-TA 1257kW and 1 x Caterpillar Emerg. Gen. Set) and ballast system, as well as the endowment of the barge with two AMCLYDE cranes, a SAS GOUDA pipelay system including the firing line and an 8 – points mooring winch system. ZEETECH Engineering will perform the fixed stinger design including the handling frame. The accommodation complies with Solas-74 A-60 standard and Flag requirements. A Perry Slingsby Triton XLX ROV System (3000msw depth rating) with Dedicated Launch and Recovery system including TMS as well as two Orion 4/7-function dedicated manipulators and a Surface Control Unit will complete the shallow water pipelay barge GSP BIGFOOT 1 equipment. The pipelay barge will also be endowed with a 12 men portable saturation diving system rated at 300 metre, built according to IMCA guidelines and classed by ABS and DNV.
